St Patrick’s Day Walking Tour

March 16 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm GMT

An hour-long guided walking tour of Balmoral Cemetery (this cemetery is usually closed, with access kindly provided by Belfast City Council)

Listowel, Wicklow, Cork, Dublin, Monaghan, Colga county Sligo and Clara Kingโ€™s County (now county Offaly) are all mentioned on headstones throughout Balmoral Cemetery. Samuel Young the MP for east Cavan for more than 25 years, John Creery Ferguson – who in November 1827 at the Dublin General Dispensary became the first person in these islands to hear the human foetal heart – and William Duff who died on 25 November 1874 in the River Liffey โ€˜by drowning while intoxicatedโ€™ are also buried in this special place. On St Patricks Day, why not come along to this special tour of Balmoral Cemetery calling at up to 20 headstones that mention places, and people from, โ€˜across the borderโ€™?
