Virtual Time Travel Pub Crawl: St Patrick’s Day 2025

March 13 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm CDT

Travel through time and space (from the safety of your home) drinking yourself stupid! Musical guests, great history, drinks and more!

In our virtual tours, we’re not bound by linear time or georgraphy, so we can visit Irish-themed bars from all over time and space! Our virtual crawl will feature historic bars that featured great music, with special performances from Amy McNally, The Dead Ringer Quartet, and other guests!

Your host, Adam Selzer, is the auther of HH HOLMES: THE TRUE HISTORY OF THE WHITE CITY DEVIL, MYSTERIOUS CHICAGO, THE GHOSTS OF CHICAGO, and more. He’s on the History Channel regularly. He runs virtual “mini tours” nearly every single day, and full-length virtual tours twice a week. This year’s St. Patrick’s Day crawl will feature some new locations following his recent trip to Dublin.

The Virtual Time Travel Pub Crawl is FREE to watch, with donations suggested via this eventbrite page, Venmo:(adamchicago) paypal ( [email protected] ) or joining Patreon.com/adamchicago for more cool stuff! Each donation will get you entered into a raffle for cool stuff!

Instructions for how to watch (it’s easy!) are below!

A few stops will have custom cocktails, such as:

The Hard Rain

.75 pint hard cider

1 shot grenadine

1 shot brandy (optional)

The Irish Whiskey Maid (Make When You’re Drunk edition)

2 shots whiskey

1 shot lime juice

dash of sugar

cucumbler slices and mint leaves (proper versions include muddled cucumber)

This being a virtual crawl, you have to provide your own booze. (If you’re in Chicago, the Binny’s in Lake View used to be a theater at which Tom Waits performed in the 70s, and it’s a scientific fact that booze purchased at a place where Tom Waits performed in the 70s tastes better than booze purchased elsewhere). Of course, you don’t HAVE to drink booze – you can drink whatever you like, even water, root beer, coffee, etc. It’s a virtual crawl; you don’t have to be drunk to have a good time! And if you DO choose to drink, you’re already at home, so no worrying about getting back!

HOW TO WATCH – it’s easy!

– The event will be broadcast live via Facebook Live on the Mysterious Chicago facebook page. ( http://www.facebook.com/mysteriouschicago ). You can also tune in on twitch.tv/adamchicago or youtube.com/adamselzer

– ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is be on that page after the broadcast starts at 8pm central time (we usually start shortly before the scheduled start time and give people a few minutes to join in), then click โ€œplayโ€ on the video.

– If you don’t see it right away, refresh, reload, or scroll down a bit.

– You won’t need a code or special link or anything to watch. You don’t even need a facebook account to watch! (Though you’ll need to be logged in if you want to join in the comments).

– If you โ€œlikeโ€ the Mysterious Chicago facebookpage you can set it to notify you when the page starts broadcasting! And if you want practice, or to make sure this works on your system, we broadcast โ€œmini toursโ€ there nearly every day at 10am central.

– We’re not actually serving anyone booze, since we won’t be at your house. Hence, you won’t get carded.

– The event is free to watch! Donations are suggested either via this page, venmo (adamchicago), paypal ([email protected]) or by joining patreon.com/adamchicago, but you don’t need a ticket.

– If you miss it, never fear – it’ll be on the “videos” section of the facebook page for some time after the live broadcast.

If you aren’t familiar with Facebook Live and can’t seem to get it to work, here are some trouble shooting tips:

– Make sure you’re on the main Mysterious Chicago page, not an event page or an old post, just regular old http://facebook.com/mysteriouschicago

– If you are on the site and donโ€™t see โ€œHappening Nowโ€ or โ€œMysterious Chicago is Liveโ€ try refreshing and scrolling down a bit. Or restarting your app.

– If none of this works for you, you may have connection, device or settings issues. Consult facebook.com/help.

Under Section 4-156-720 of the Municipal Code of Chicago, this performing arts venue may not charge an admission fee, minimum purchase requirement, membership fee, or other fee or charge imposed for the privilege of entering the premises. Any donations are purely voluntary.
