HIFI SEAN
There are so many incredible chapters to Hifi Sean (aka Sean Dickson) musical journeys but letโs
stick to the DJ one here.
You want more then delve into the World Wide Web.
Prince once sang a song he wrote โฆ.
Sean released few years ago his first solo debut , the highly acclaimed album โFtโ, which he
describes as โelectronic, psychedelic soulโ. The album boasts collaborations with an extraordinarily
diverse range of artists including some of the most significant underground musical icons within
music history.
โFTโ’s stellar collection of artists includes:- Yoko Ono, avant garde musician, conceptual art icon
and one of the most controversial female artists of all time; Bootsy Collins widely
regarded as one of the finest Funk/RnB bass players in the world; Dave Ball co-founder of
โSoft Cellโ, the UKโs notorious synth pioneers with the uniquely sleazy electric soul,
Fred Schneider from the manic, bizarre and highly innovative US new-wave group
โThe B-52โsโ and Alan Vega, vocalist of the seminal proto-punk New York duo โSuicideโ.
โFTโ attracted significant critical praise and broke the top 20 album chart; singles
released from the album also proved immensely popular. The animated video for his Yoko Ono
Collaboration โIn Love with Lifeโ received a share from YouTube themselves to their 66 million
subscribers. The single โTestifyโ feat. Crystal Water reached #2 in the Shazam chart, #3 in the
iTunes Dance chart and spent 3 months in the top 30 singles; it was further hyped at the start of
that year by The Blessed Madonna in her Radio 1 Essential Selection of acts to watch that year.
โTestifyโ also hit the #1 top slot on the Billboard Dance Chart in USA .
In addition to writing and producing his own solo album, Sean has been passionately
dedicated to his DJ sets (which include many self produced tracks and edits) holding down
residencies and also guest sets at XOYO ,Horse Meat Disco ,Glitterbox , Metropolis Disco In A
Strip Club to name but a few within his base in London.
He began playing house, disco and electro in the burgeoning and innovative Glasgow club scene
at The Glasgow Art School with his own respected club night โRecord Playersโ , before relocating to
London where he became a staple figure at some of the capitalโs biggest underground house,
disco and techno clubs, as well as the scenes many โafter-hoursโ parties.
2024 sees no stopping to his urge to be deeply and passionately involved in the music he lives for.
What with current DJ sets for The Blessed Madonnaโs BBC 6 Music show to his vinyl only remix of
โFire Island & Loleatta Holloways – Shout to the Topโ which went str8 in to #1 in the Juno chart and
stayed there for over 4 weeks before selling out and dropping str8 back out. This 12โ now being a
collectors item and passing for good money between vinyl collectors.
To Sean in his head this is only ever the start , and always is every time he makes a record or
plays a set.
He always sticks by this lifelong motto.
โThe next record I hear may be the best record I have ever heard.โ
